What is POSCA?

By now, you’ve probably heard of, if not tried, taking apple cider vinegar (ACV) for overall wellness. In the last ten years, ACV has starred in countless health hacks from shots to supplements in favor of detoxifying the body and improving gut health. And yeah, it also has a reputation for its piercing, barely-palatable taste. But while POSCA—our own new, much tastier vinegar-based blend of ACV, botanicals, and herbs—contains this “super” ingredient, using vinegar for a wellbeing boost is far from a fad.

The term posca actually refers to an ancient Roman drink, popularized about 2,000 years ago—but we won’t blame you if you’ve never heard of it. A potent blend of wine vinegar, honey, and water, posca was enjoyed primarily by soldiers of the Roman army to quench their thirst throughout battle. Rumor has it that this powerful bacteria-fighting, energy-boosting beverage was one reason why the Romans so often reigned supreme.

Posca was a drink that brought people together, a catalyst for connection during chaotic times when a morale boost was needed most. Armies and citizens didn’t just use it to sustain themselves during war, but to gather and build community, much like the elite among them did with wine.

Of course, the posca consumed by the ancient Romans is probably not up to snuff with our modern palettes, which is where we come in.

Harnessing the power of vinegar—specifically the superior ACV—POSCA was formulated as not only a modern-day health beverage, but one meant to be enjoyed together, not simply tolerated as part of a detox. Instead, we invite you to sip our herb and botanical blends over a communal meal, allowing the ACV to work while you eat, connect, and live. POSCA sets your body up for the best possible dining experience—one where you can indulge in your favorite foods without concern for the effects or planning that post-party cleanse.

So, how does POSCA do it? Like posca of ancient Rome, it drills down to the vinegar. Our zero-sugar, glucose stabilizing blend of apple cider vinegar, herbs, and botanicals mitigate the effects of sugar and carbs while aiding digestion and strengthening your metabolism. And that’s just part of it.

On top of all that, POSCA itself is as pretty to present to a crowd as a bottle of wine, with a nod to nature and motifs that celebrate its origins in ancient Rome. So do as the Romans did and serve it up without stressing about your upcoming meal. How about a toast to clearing your plate?
